Maileg is a Danish design brand of children’s toys established in 1999 by Dorthe & Erik Mailil.
The Maileg philosophy is that a well-made, adorable toy will last. Maileg toys are always limited release and become collectibles. Maileg believes children thrive with simpler toys rather than plastic. Fewer, better made toys open their minds to new stories and innovative ways to play which will serve them well through life. Maileg toys are shared, cherished and played with by children of all ages, and handed down for generations.
From the Maileg website, “Our products are made using natural materials such as cotton, linen, wool, wood, and metal. We do not use plastic except for the polyester filling for our stuffed toys. Each toy is hand-made or at least hand finished. This means not every toy will be exactly the same. We believe it gives our toys character and charm that plastic toys made out of a mold, just cannot match. Sometimes an ear may be slightly lower than the other or one leg may skew a little left. These are not defects in our mind, but make each toy unique just like the children that are playing with them.”
It all starts with a mouse... and before you know it you're hooked.
